Educator and consultant providing coaching and PD for equitable and sustainable blended and online learning design to teachers, schools, and universities.
There is so much inconsistency across our nation based on SES and location. Schools do not all have the same resources and access to expertise to adequately implement strong online learning design. Furthermore, educators are burned out and the government is not giving support.
Today's tech shutdowns are a great example of what to do when online classroom tech isn't working. Stay calm, communicate in alternative ways if you can, and standby to provide updates when it's back working.

K-12 schools absolutely need to get connected to educational consultants like myself who specialize in online learning (blended, hybrid, and 100% online). It's breaking my heart to see systems struggle.
Millions of teachers across the nation are in their second year of teaching either in-person, online — or both.
Teachers are struggling to keep students engaged while learning new tech tools that are required to make online classes successful. https://t.co/Hwk9E8A8o9
I've been blessed to work with some wonderful faculty and staff across college and university partnerships, including Morehouse College, NYU, Northwestern University, USC, and my alma mater, Teachers College, Columbia University, among others.

3)As you teach online, make a note of what works well and what needs tweaking. Get feedback formally and informally from your students. You don't have to wait for formal course evaluation either; make your own! Take this feedback, reuse, and tweak content for the next iteration.
A lot of educators are scarred from 1.5 years of emergency online learning, and I'm seeing that many are abandoning the LMS's they used during that time. Online learning can be equitable and sustainable. 1/

2) Get comfortable with an #LMS in your traditional classroom before needing to go full-time online, preferably an LMS that is used schoolwide. Lowers frustrations from students using too many tools and having inconsistent experiences across subjects. 4/
Love this! I've been thinking about how #onlinelearning is possible for younger children and this is a great example! Fun projects can be done at home and presented on Zoom. Zoom and live sessions are reserved for social connection and learning.
Hey, y'all! Updates. I've formally started my ed consulting business. My work centers online education for K-12 and higher ed. I love working with schools and educators to design online learning that's high-quality, equitable, and sustainable for them and their students.
I've taught for 3 years using blending and online learning, resulting in increased active engagement and 1:1 and small group:teacher contact time. For the last few years, I've consulted higher ed programs on their course design across disciplines.
