Dr. KB is okay and strong spirited as often. I told him about how he was “in Geneva attending a meeting to overthrow M7” yet at the same time he was appearing physically in court in Kampala 😂😂😂.

Like most of us, KB also thinks Kinobe is even worse than Emmanuel Baguma. More like jumping from the frying pan straight into the fire.

Hajji Obeid Lutale lost his mother-in-law today. Like other political prisoners who have lost loved ones while in detention, he unfortunately won’t be able to attend the burial.

Salongo Erias Lukwago has lost a lot of weight and his hair has turned grey. He will be at the High Court this Friday for his bail application hearing. Fingers crossed.

Lawyer Male Mabirizi is fine. I even told him he looks good and more handsome in prison 🙈 To which he replied that he gives himself peace of mind, and that he acknowledges anything is possible under the dictatorial regime including keeping him in prison for long even when he has no case to answer. He also said he is praying hard that Lukwago is granted bail, given his fragile medical condition.

Makokha is fine. He doesn’t know his fate because Baguma Emmanuel is just sitting on his case file.

This afternoon, I hosted the Presidential Pearl to Cape Expedition 2025 Homecoming Luncheon to celebrate the successful journey of the Kayoola E-Coach from Uganda to South Africa and back. I congratulate the Kiira Motors team on this historic achievement, which demonstrates that Africa can design, manufacture and export its own technology.

Before colonialism, our people had an integrated economy built on artisans and indigenous knowledge. Our task now is to restore that foundation through modern industrialization. I have directed the relevant Ministries to move with speed, secure financing, guarantee off-take for locally manufactured buses, and support battery production. We must stop working slowly. Uganda’s industrial transformation cannot wait.

In 2022, I planned to launch my book chosen in a period of two months. I was still in office. A month’s later, I retired. I had invited two very important persons but who had known me by course of my work. One is a former Minister & another still a Minister. Each pledged to pay 2m. The former asked me to remind him a week to the launch which I duly did. The other one never answered my calls or WhatsApp. I am sure, they are wondering why I haven’t reminded them when the launch will take place.

WHERE IS MUWANGA KIVUMBI?

This morning, I joined Speaker of Parliament @ObothOboth in receiving the remains of the late General (Rtd) Moses Ali, former First Deputy Prime Minister and MP for Adjumani West, in preparation for today’s special parliamentary session honoring a leader who came to embody peace, progress, and unity in the West Nile region.

General Moses Ali passed away on July 18 at the age of 87 while undergoing treatment at Nakasero Hospital. Earlier today, members of Parliament, standing together in solidarity, resolved to celebrate his enduring legacy and remarkable five-decade-long contribution to Uganda’s military and public service.

We later on welcomed H.E President @KagutaMuseveni who led the tributes by laying a wreath and offering condolences to the bereaved family. In a moving speech, he reflected on the political turmoil of the 1970s under the UPC regime, which drove the late general and others to join the resistance against the regimes of Milton Obote and Iddi Amin. The President remembered him as a dedicated freedom fighter, a passionate advocate for peace, a committed development champion, and a proud son of West Nile who always promoted harmony and stability despite the injustices that once displaced so many Ugandans.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.

At the beginning of this year, Dr. Busingye Kabumba made a deliberate decision to quit active participation on X.

He simultaneously decided to end his weekly column in The Observer. When he initially launched the column, Kabumba stated his motivation was to give back to a country that had given him so much. However, in his final article, titled "Constitutionally speaking…The final word," he explained that he was stopping because he had exhaustively said everything he possibly could regarding constitutionalism and the rule of law.

Kabumba observed that further legal commentary was futile because the 1995 Constitution had effectively been reduced to a "dead letter" or a "book of lies" by systemic political manipulation and military overreach. He noted that the country's governance structure had tipped past a critical threshold into a "military ethnocracy" where the judiciary is fully subordinated to executive power.

He felt the political and human rights environment was actively spiraling out of hand, leaving citizens deeply frustrated.

Ultimately, he concluded that continuing to write into the public square offered no further value, as the legal and democratic foundations of the country had completely deteriorated.

The situation since Dr Kabumba’s ‘exit’ has got worse!

High Court Judge Emmanuel Baguma has ruled that Dr. @kizzabesigye1 be given a state appointed lawyer to force his treason trial forward.
This is after lead counsel Martha Karua was deported as persona non grata, and co-counsel Erias Lukwago remains severely ill in prison after his abduction.
Besigye is vehemently protesting, stating a forced state brief explicitly violates his constitutional right to lawyers of his own choice.
