My heart is broken. Tonight feels like a battle-axe has struck the very soul of humanity.
After nearly a year of pleading, petitions, protests, and desperate efforts to stop it… the inhumane mass murder at the Universal Ostrich Farm has begun.
Nearly 400 ostriches are being INHUMANELY killed tonight under the veil of darkness. Shots are heard ringing out and the family and supporters are crying and screaming out for help.

Desperate sounds I never even knew Ostriches made are heard in the distance.. it is horrific.
These magnificent, intelligent beings.. healthy, peaceful, and innocent.. are being slaughtered under the false banner of “biosecurity.” These Ostriches were dearly loved by the close-knit family that raised them. Each one had a name, a story, and a bond with the people who lovingly raised them from birth. Many were over 35 years old.
What makes this even more tragic is that these ostriches held important antibodies, natural immune properties that could have advanced scientific understanding, health research, and natural healing for us and generations to come. Instead of protecting that gift, the government chose destruction.
The Canadian government and CFIA chose death over truth, bureaucracy over compassion, and silence over science.
This is more than the death of beautiful, sentient life. It’s a reflection of how far we’ve fallen from the living world that sustains us.
Canadian government, you have failed us all.
It is soul crushing to see such sanctioned cruelty and evil carried out in the shadows. It shatters the very trust you were meant to protect.
This sets a DANGEROUS precedent.. allowing the government to enter private property on mere suspicion and slaughter innocent animals without proper, up-to-date testing or proof of threat.
They will come for your farms, your pets, and your families next. When governments act without accountability, when life is taken without truth or transparency, no one is safe. What starts with the animals ends with us.. our rights, our voices, and our humanity.

These ostriches must be absolutely terrified and clearly they are suffering.. its now been hours of hearing shots fired in the dark... over 800 shots counted so far.. each bird clearly being shot multiple times and slowly.. there are documents out that prove shooting is the most inhumane way to put down an Ostrich.. and yet here we are. I read that this has cost over a billion in tax payer dollars. Universal Ostrich Farms fb group will have updates. This is horrific and evil and heartbreaking.
My deepest sympathies go out to the family and all who supported the farm. I’m so sorry for the pain and trauma this has caused...
