what a time to be young and powerless and broke and annoyed and stuck and betrayed by every institution you were taught to trust and broke and broke and broke and lost and young and inexperienced and without "3-5 years of experience" and young and broke and justifiably angry

Hey yo my NYC folks!! My play UMOJA is having an industry reading in NYC this August! And we’re still looking for AEA Actors!
Synopsis: At a predominantly white university in Birmingham, Alabama, six Black students form a co-ed fraternity to uplift their community, only to find their mission threatened by rising racial tensions, a campus scandal, and personal secrets that force them to confront their values and each other.

Please submit or share!!!

Financial literacy is worthless without access to capital.

My unpopular opinion is that we should start denormalizing people not reading. We have reached a point where college educated adults will look at you with a straight face and tell you they haven’t read a book or article in years???

[Caroline Renard @carolinerenard_]

The west village article brings up something that I’ve seen happening in both NY and LA, these people are here in these cities on a pit stop for content before they move back to their hometown to start families. They contribute nothing and don’t plan on being in the community.

i need more people to be asking filmmakers how they get money for their films, how do you get money for your first feature, i need this to be a more accessible answer please

Putting out a pitch call for Esquire: If any AAPI writers want to send me their incredibly thoughtful and well written essays that reflect on media, film, tv, music that's prescient and resonates with our current cultural climate, please send them to me: [email protected]

it's because we all look the same to them and it's connected to Obama being called a black president instead of a biracial one

[n ~*~* @chaoticblkgirl]

the problem with black girl representation is that there will be a biracial girl who is half black, and she’s the only one, and then she’s labeled “the black girl” even though she isnt representative of what most black girls look like or identify with.

I knew Ryan coogler had a thing for horror because I’ve always said that fruitvale station was the scariest movie I’d ever watched.

You cannot be a “rich auntie” with no community ties to children. “Auntie” ain’t just an aesthetic — it is a title. An honored one! Auntie has a definition, both real and cultural. Aunties and Uncs are community pillars. That man ain’t an auntie, he’s an island to himself.

The Black Church makes to much money off the people to not work as financial institution for the people.

Granny tithed 10% of her income every Sunday for 50 years but died dependent on Social Security. Now her family has to pay to have the funeral at the church she paid off.

Happy Easter😘👵🏾👵🏿
