Prof at Michigan State U. Trying to understand how the universe works, including people & animals. And plants and microbes. So, pretty much everything. (he/him)
Thank you to Prof. Christoph Adami
@ChristophAdami for the interesting talk yesterday and to all of you earthlings who attended the event thirsty for science AND cocktails. Next event is on May 13. https://t.co/QbSXVCICg6 #science#event#cocktails#music
Fancy a smart night out? On March 25 in Den Grå Hal we will explore How Evolution Creates Complexity with ChristophAdami @ChristophAdami Professor of Microbiology, Genetics and Immunology at Michigan State University@michiganstateu #Science#evolution#biology#cocktails

@ClausWilke @REasther@TravisVarga This can actually be verified experimentally, but you have to be sneaky to detect the lies. There is a paper in the works.
New blog post about how you can test theories of attention with artificial brain models. Think your brain can't easily be fooled? Think again! https://t.co/mGQ7mScYoq
I just sold all my Tesla stock. I've been a big supporter of the company and technology for many years, but the risk presented by a CEO who has lost his mind is just too great.
I've always liked informational views of evolution, so when @arvidagren asked if I'd review @ChristophAdami's new book, I was delighted.
It's a great book, and I discuss connections to Maynard Smith and Lewontin's ideas, measurement, Fisher's fundamental theorem, and more.
@cgseife That our first paper about the capacity only appeared ten years after we posted it to arXiv tells you something about the state of the field. It seemed then (and now) that no one really wanted this problem to be solved. @philipcball https://t.co/UwN4CVWHDu
20 years after writing about the black hole channel capacity for the first time, here is a review paper covering all that we now know about the black hole information problem. Namely that it isn't a problem at all. Link is to a free version of the paper. https://t.co/izFUWNHhrF
In 2004, Hawking was about to give a talk at a conference in Dublin, and we were scared that he would scoop us. Our paper appeared on arXiv two weeks later, but Hawking's solution wasn't one. Charles Seife @cgseife wrote about this in Science Magazine https://t.co/sTC0Tx2ez1
Indeed. With the historically documented reluctance by the committee to hand out the prize for a theory, and always preferring the experiment that validated the theory, this one really stands out as blatant misogyny.
