Had to share, this is really good !!
Baseball isn’t played on social media. It’s not played in a comment section, in a highlight reel, or behind a screen where everything looks perfect and nobody ever fails.
And it sure isn’t played in a metal building in a 15-foot space surrounded by nets where every swing looks great and every pitch looks sharp because there’s no pressure and no consequences.
Baseball is played between the white lines.
It’s played on real dirt and real grass. It’s played under the lights when the game speeds up and your heart rate jumps. It’s played when there’s a runner on third, two outs, and you’ve got to compete — not pose. It’s played when you strike out, boot a ball, walk a guy, or give up a hit… and then have to take a breath and go do it again anyway.
Pitchers — this part’s for you too.
You don’t become a competitor just throwing bullpens where nobody’s in the box trying to beat you. Get on a real mound. Throw to a catcher. Face hitters. Learn how to control the running game. Learn how to handle when the ump squeezes you. Learn how to pitch when someone barrels one and now you’ve got to respond. That’s how you grow.
You don’t get better by curating clips. You get better by competing.
You get better by facing someone who wants to beat you.
By learning how to fail in front of people.
By learning how to respond when things don’t go your way.
By understanding that baseball is a game built on failure — and toughness is built on how you handle it.
Failure is coming. A lot of it.
And that’s not a bad thing — that’s the game.
So get out from behind the nets.
Get off the phone.
Pitchers, get on the mound with hitters in the box.
Hitters, step in against someone trying to get you out.
Fielders, make plays when it matters.
Step between the white lines.
Compete.
Struggle.
Adjust.
Grow.
Because that’s where real ballplayers are made.
