@radiotower3@pmarca I can prove you I'm honest : I know RNA stuff will be able to solve cancer, but not AI.
And I'm not the guy exactly for RNA treatments, morally ; but I have to concede there, because I have literally seen it from my own eyes.
@radiotower3@pmarca I was a technical artist vulgarizing physiology, medicine, virology, oncology working for advertising with the medical industry during about 25 years. I worked for very important experts in cancer ; I worked for the first viable treatment for breast cancer, using RNA, in 2005.
@SeMiHAL9000@Rainmaker1973 What I'm saying is ; each time a new military invention came, toward history, artillery beat it very quickly. From the bullet to the ballistic missile.
@SeMiHAL9000@Rainmaker1973 Other forms or artillery can destroy walls.
And identifying/firing at people, automatically, using pattern recognition is against war conventions, and a war crime.
@radiotower3@pmarca AI bros want to get the cancer market with their LLM ; able to *interpret results* ; doing the doctor part, not the PR part ; as other companies are already leaders on that. But you have to know what you're doing with those.
@baalwark@pmarca I don't see how they can get more than 70% accuracy. Like in poker ; a great player leaving 30% to odds; the other 70 is skills. Interesting, but not enough for medicine.
@radiotower3@pmarca Cla*de or Oai, or else are not leaders in scientific pattern recognition, but want to use that idea they can be used to identify cancers. Theoretically yes, but in practice tools are already there ; just you can't ask directly "find a cancer" & you have to know what you 're doing
@radiotower3@pmarca Yes they are in this case. And it's why is bad.
Pattern recognition is already used to find cancers since ages, in the material interfaces ; but a doctor have to make a diagnostic.
And be able to detect very small cancers is useless, as most of them will disappear by themselves
@radiotower3@pmarca It's like a parrot, in which we added an huge cybernetic memory into its brain. After training, it will be able to complete your phrases, and answer to things.
But without understanding anything ; as it's just a parrot.
