@OUFball218 (Part 2) but I believe if Mateer would have set his feet he could have made it a great (and easier to secure) ball to him, I say this only because throwing on the run is extremely difficult (I know as a former baseball player) and Mateer had time to set his feet.

@f9c9b3c0a3d947e Can’t answer for the SEC, just going off what I see with my own eyes from the game and what I’ve read. I could be mistaken but the rule looks like it could be interpreted differently by different crews unless there is a clear distinction of what constitutes as faking a sub by SEC

@f9c9b3c0a3d947e You’re right, he was very wide for a trick play…doesn’t mean it’s illegal because he lined up abnormally for one play. Also, go rewatch the game like I’m doing, Freeze and the DC caught it and tried to call time out. Why didn’t the DBs catch it? Why not follow him 1/2

@f9c9b3c0a3d947e Plus teams practice trick plays all the time, from reports I’m seeing the OU staff cleared it with officials during the week and the day of the game, the officials interpreted it wasn’t a illegal play or illegal act from Satenga during the game.

@f9c9b3c0a3d947e I’m watching it right now, he never touches his chin strap, never undoes his gloves, he adjusts his face mask, plus if the formation calls for someone to be off the line, they have to walk behind the line to get lined up and check with officials.

@f9c9b3c0a3d947e So I just watched the play in question again, the play before was a running play, Satenga was in jet motion, he continued his motion (walking instead of running) towards the sideline, never signaling or motioning for a substitute. Just simple walked out very wide, and set up. 🤷🏻‍♂️
