Stop pretending complex patients are missing a coordinator when medical education had eradicated the role and split the body into separate systems (which somehow apparently don't interact???) 4/4 #MedTwitter#MedEd#EhlersDanlos#DisabilityTwitter
40% of Canadians have “underlying medical conditions”
I’m not sure people understand how offensive this is, and how it devalues a large segment of the population.
If no one brings peanuts into a classroom because a student has an allergy why can’t everyone wear a mask so the student who is medically complex can attend?
Canada, it’s time for us to accept the truth, one so many of our communities have known for a long time: Politics are broken; the moral authority of our institutions is broken.

@dpepe88@DocSarahJ Recently, a referring doctor told me to follow-up with the clinic I was being referred to if I didn't hear from them in a couple weeks. I never heard. We're at a low point in healthcare when docs know that referrals will be lost before they even send them. #AxeTheFax
***Find your vaccine proof online***Ontario, Canada
Asked several times how to find vaccine proof/receipts online as it is very hard to easily find via Google etc
So here is a direct link

One of the most important threads on #medtwitter in recent memory, with real tension between frictionless real-time delivery of data to patients taking ownership of their health information vs. clinicians’ gestalt that some news is best relayed in person & with some forethought
@marklewismd I do think it's about patient preference. Personally, I check my patient portal religiously. I am a "need to know now" type of patient and I find having the information allows me to have more effective conversations with my doctors.
@MaggieKeresteci This is something I struggle with greatly with my own healthcare. Being a patient or a caregiver in this system is a full time job. It's exhausting.
@Elise_ekd@spedassist Maybe try https://t.co/gSKZqCtrv2 by @EmpowerHlthcare It allows you to search by vaccine type and area and gives a map of pharmacies in stock
This week is National #AccessAbility Week. #DidYouKnow!? If you use capital letters for each word in your hashtags, screen readers used by people who are visually impaired will hear the words individually rather than as a long incoherent word.
Just got a call to set up an appointment with a doctor I was referred to... in July 2020
The admin was not surprised when I told her I'd already been seen at different clinic, had imaging done, and received a diagnosis

Communicating effectively with your doctor(s) is a skill. As with other skills, it takes practice. You'll get better at it. You will! Tip #7. It’s okay to interrupt the doctor. https://t.co/K7ALd2CZ55 #patients#bcsm#bccww
