@JournoStephen 2/2 it’s unfortunate that this tragic case, made even worse by the senselessly long punitive sentencing will only serve to bring out the extremes on both sides.
@JournoStephen 1/2 Late stage abortion has always been a matter of weighing mothers rights & baby’s rights. Calling for legalised abortion irrespective of gestation will give pro-lifers an excuse to call for an end of all abortion rights. It destabilises truly legitimate reasons for the right.
@emma_henwood Not suggesting you are calling for abortion rights up to full term btw. But completely@agree the sentencing was archaic and excessively punitive.
@emma_henwood 1/2 Completely agree with you on this. However Late stage abortion has always been a matter of weighing mothers rights & baby’s rights. Calling for legalised abortion irrespective of gestation will give pro-lifers an excuse to call for an end of all abortion rights.

@AVintenAuthor I think this is conflating two issue: 1) the sentence which is obscenely long and serve no purpose and 2) whether she had committed a crime and is guilty, which she has
@BellaWallerstei You feel@babies move@from 18/20 weeks? So even if she wasn’t aware of exactly how far she was, she would have felt the baby’s move inside her for at least 3 months. That’s pretty messed up…
@HarrietEJohnson I think we should really separate the two issues her - her sentence (which is obscenely over the top and long) and whether she actually did something wrong and criminal (which she has done)
@carbdiem The whole things is really messed up. She would have felt her baby move inside her for at least 3 months before doing this, and her reason for doing it was because she got back with an ex that wasn’t the father of the child…
@StrengthCoachUK @alenadundas@BPAS1968 I don’t think we need to speculate her as she has stated the reason she wanted to do this was because during the pandemic she got back with an ex and baby wasn’t his. So happy to keep baby before new man, less happy with new man. Pretty messed up…
@Ohwow27811@alenadundas@BPAS1968 You typically feel babies move around 18/20 weeks, so even if she didn’t know her exact dates she would have felt the baby move for at least 3 months before she chose to do thos. Really really messed up…
In Opinion
"We should not romanticize her era," writes Maya Jasanoff, a professor of history at Harvard, in a guest essay. "The queen helped obscure a bloody history of decolonization whose proportions and legacies have yet to be adequately acknowledged." https://t.co/3UIf76SriF
