Do folks know Cook Inlet natural gas (which currently produces ~75% of our electricity) is running out? Big decisions are looming about what will power our light switches in 10 years. They shouldn't happen behind closed doors.

Electric co-ops being run conservatively and lacking innovation is a trend across the country. First step in changing that is electing a board of directors interested in making change. We'll be endorsing renewable energy candidates soon!

We have 10 candidates running for three seats on our Board of Directors. Join us for our candidate forum on April 13 to hear their thoughts on the future of your member-owned electric cooperative.
Come learn about the connection between your light switch, the upcoming election for the Chugach Electric Board of Directors, and one of the simplest things you can do in Anchorage to have climate impact NOW.

How Chugach Electric is run matters bc 1. We are approaching a natural gas shortage in Cook Inlet AND 2. Climate change + renewables are now cheaper than ever. Now is the time for renewables and the status quo isn't going to get us there. #ancgov#akleg
I heard this statistic on the radio this weekend, that unbeknownst to a whole lot of us, we've already decreased overall carbon emissions by ~20% since 2005...! I had no idea. It makes transformative change (and renewable energy) feel a lot more within reach.
thank you @lgtobin for being bold!! while we're waiting for the rest of the legislature to get on board, (which could take, ahem, a while) we can push for renewables now by electing board members to @chugachelectric who support them.

Yesterday, I introduced SB 101, which lays out a strategy to have 80% of our energy production from renewable resources by 2040. It’s bold, but bold is what we need. #renewableenergy#akleg

Chugach Electric members - it feels good to realize that not only are you incredibly good looking and fit as hell, you also have the power to influence our energy future!!

Elections for the @chugachelectric Board of Directors (i.e. the 7 ppl who have a lot of power over how energy is produced in Southcentral) open April 19th. If you pay a bill to Chugach you can vote.
What if I told you that voting in the upcoming @chugachelectric election for the board of directors is one of the most direct climate actions you can take?

This is me - FINALLY realizing that it being a "member-owned coop" means that @chugachelectric is designed to be a democracy? Not sure who I used to think "members" were.... but I def didn't realize it was me...
#ANCgov#akleg
Pretty disappointing (and bold?!) that @chugachelectric just denied a PhD in natural resource economics AND an ex-state legislator from running for the Chugach Board this spring. The connecting factor? They're both pro-renewable energy.
