From the outset, let me extend congratulations to the United States on assuming the G20 Presidency. We offer our sincere wishes for a successful term, one that we hope will serve the cause of global unity and inclusive progress.

Last night the US President verbally attacked South Africa. Its a series of attacks on an African country within days.

This time he threatened to ban SA from the upcoming G20 Summit. Again, only Germany & Brazil have defended SA while African Presidents remain quiet !!!

I had the great pleasure of meeting with His Excellency President Cyril Ramaphosa here in South Africa, host nation for the G20.

I expressed my appreciation at being invited to the G20 where nations are gathered to discuss critical issues, many of which relate to Jamaica. In particular, I am pleased at the importance being placed on climate change, especially as Jamaica navigates the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa.

It is important that our voices be heard and that we are present in fora such as these where we can engage in essential discussions and forge partnerships as we look towards our long-term national recovery and long-term development priorities.

Our conversation also touched on the rich potential for cultural exchange and collaboration, particularly through South Africa’s renowned film industry and well as opportunities in trade, travel, and tourism.

I extended a warm invitation for President Ramaphosa to visit Jamaica, and we discussed how we can continue to work together in meaningful ways towards the best outcomes for both our nations.

This engagement highlights a significant step in deepening the bonds between our nations and advancing shared prosperity, cooperation, and global solidarity.
