Why would anyone pay for AI commission when “art is now accessible to everyone”
they can just type the prompt themselves and not pay the $10
Isn’t this what these AI people wanted?
It's telling that, when people defend AI companies training on people's life's work without permission, they often accuse these companies' critics of 'not understanding the technology'.
This seems to be almost universally false. The people vocally criticizing AI companies for stealing people's work in fact seem to have a very good working knowledge of the technology - which is to be expected, given how much it has been written about & discussed.
Hard not to read the 'you don't understand the tech' accusation as an intentional attempt to muddy the waters, in the absence of real arguments defending the practise.
Screw it I’m gonna put this on blast: YES absolutely you should feel bad and stop.
THIS is what we’ve all worried about from the start. That the profession of inventing, discovering, exploring & expressing with our art might be replaced with tracing ai garbage to fix its mistakes
1. I'm legit shocked by the design of @Meta's new notification informing us they want to use the content we post to train their AI models. It's intentionally designed to be highly awkward in order to minimise the number of users who will object to it. Let me break it down.
So...Mammals normally store fat under the skin in an even layer, but camels evolved to pile fat in one spot, so the rest of their bodies can stay cool in the desert.
Why don't other desert animals do this?
Well, they do.... but for some reason, we never talk about them..... 🧵🧵

Sam Register, President of Warner Bros. Animation, is against using AI.
"I just think it’s important we protect the artists and the art form as long as we can. [With storyboarding], we should give jobs to people who really do that so they can get their entry-level experience."
yup, the entry level jobs are necessary for artists to get a foothold and start to evolve as artists while making an income -you won't have all those delicious styles to feed your AI monsters without new beautiful artists, don't forget that or else shit will be derivative forever
