Manchester United’s transfer targets this summer:

Elliot Anderson (Nottingham Forest → Man City, £116M) – United refused to match the fee or enter a bidding war.

Mateus Fernandes (West Ham → Tottenham, £85M) – United were unwilling to match Tottenham’s overall package, including the fixed fee and wages.

Sandro Tonali (Newcastle → Tottenham, £100M) – The price was considered too high and United never seriously pushed to get the deal done.

Aurélien Tchouaméni (Real Madrid) – Madrid had no intention of selling, while the fee and wages would have been significant. He has since signed a new contract.

Lewis Hall (Newcastle) – United showed interest and the player was reportedly open to the move, but Newcastle refused to sell and valued him at around £60M.

Manu Koné (Roma) – Roma wanted around £51M, while there was also internal disagreement at United over the move, with Jason Wilcox reportedly not fully convinced.

Bruno Guimarães (Newcastle → Arsenal, ~£75M) – United had concerns over committing such a large fee to a player aged 28 and approaching 29.

Alex Scott (Bournemouth) – Bournemouth’s valuation of around £80M proved too high, with United eventually backing away.

Carlos Baleba (Brighton) – Brighton wanted around £75M–£100M, significantly more than United were prepared to pay.
