They respected EU hate speech laws at the expense of American 1A and Section 230. It should be revoked and they can do what they want.

@JoelKatz @AJRuecker Wasnt the intent of the exemption given to them to prevent such things from happening? In fact if memory serves me right, their excuse (twitter) was they are a multintnl company that cannot realistically enforce every countries rules. Yet they clearly enforce EU speech laws.

@GregoryKampas @JoelKatz They do in fact already do this. You will be unbanked and have your assets frozen by them if you are on a "hate watch" list from the ADL/SPLC. If you are a dissident in this country you will feel the wrath of big tech. You wont be able to use uber/airbnb/cashapp etc.

I think the status quo comes from a present-day "missing middle" where we have centralized-but-easy things and decentralized-but-hard things, but new tech (w lots of cryptography!) actually is on the cusp of giving us the best of both worlds.
