Every child has rights. We must work to uphold them.

Today at the 3rd Committee of the UN General Assembly which focuses on human rights🇺🇳 - Ireland 🇮🇪 delivered a statement on how we work to ensure the protection of the rights of the child, amid daily attacks on those rights.

Right now in Geneva - the UN Human Right Council is in session and doing really important work.

Today for example - vital human rights monitoring mandates were extended for #Afghanistan, for #Ethiopia and for #Burundi.

Today the 51st session of the Human Rights Council opened.

This week the #HRC51 will discuss a number of pressing human rights situations, incl:

Amb. Moran expressed concern at the situation of journalists in #Yemen, condemning the killing of journalist Saber al-Haidari in June and others.

As we said at 🇮🇪‘s Arria-formula meeting on the Protection of Journalists in May - “Journalists are integral to sustainable peace.”

Today Sec-Gen Joe Hackett launched a Gender, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan with ambitious targets. By 2025 we will:

Reduce the Gender Pay Gap to below 🔟%
