If you too are one of those brainwashed into the simplistic trope "It's a global crisis what can Modi do", then ask yourself these questions:
1) Petrol-diesel already heavily overpriced for many years, despite very soft-priced crude oil. Why didn't he sell at real rates to us then, and let us enjoy some savings?
2) Taxes worth several times the oil bond liability already collected from us. Almost all infra companies too are in huge debt (i.e. NHAI), in parallel. Almost all other taxes also up. The fraud argument that petro taxes are funding infra is hollow. Check the freebies being given and states sinking in debt each month.
3) Ethanol-mixed petrol is automatically over-priced (a fact never accepted) and bad for engines.
4) Crude oil production in India down by more than 22% since 2014. Why? Govt. sleeping?
5) Cheaper oil purchase from Iran, in rupees, stopped completely since 2018-19 under US pressure. Why?
6) Why is Reliance and Nayara, even today, exporting refined petro products worldwide, when India faces a shortage? China stopped all such exports from its refiners, but India continues to allow. Why not stop it and divert to local supply? Oligarchs won't allow?
When you see the picture in totality, the simplistic view evaporates, and you begin seeing a holistic failure of planning. We, the citizens, are being hollowed out.
