Today, we stand in solemn reflection as the Afro community and minorities across America and the world mourn the passing of Jesse Jackson — a towering moral voice, a freedom fighter, and a shepherd of hope.
Rev. Jackson’s life was a living sermon. He reminded generations that dignity is not granted by systems, but affirmed by God and defended by courage. He carried the unfinished work of the Civil Rights Movement into courtrooms, ballot boxes, boardrooms, and forgotten neighborhoods. He taught young men and women from marginalized communities that their circumstances did not define their destiny.
To the African American community — whose struggle for equity he championed with relentless conviction — I offer my deepest sympathy. Your grief is shared far beyond your borders. To every minority community who found in him an advocate, a bridge-builder, and a defender of justice, know that his labor was not in vain.
Rev. Jackson did more than protest injustice; he institutionalized hope. He translated faith into policy, prayer into action, and pain into purpose.
As we mourn, we must also recommit. The most fitting tribute to his memory is not only remembrance, but resolve — resolve to protect voting rights, expand opportunity, defend human dignity, and ensure that the dream he carried forward does not fade into ceremony.
May comfort surround his family.
May strength uphold the communities he inspired.
And may the torch of justice continue to burn in the hands of a new generation.
— Rev. Rudy Laurent
Deeply disturbing rhetoric is spreading from influential MAGA figures (including the President of the United States and the owner of this website). They have no idea who the shooter is, and many of these same people mocked Democrats when they were victims of political violence in the past. In moments like this, we should be lowering the temperature and finding our shared humanity — not fueling more hatred and violence.
In Utah, there is no waiting period to buy a gun.
In Utah, there is legislation in the works to get rid of same day voting after registering.
Priorities....
Elizabeth Warren on people who say Dems needs to tone down their rhetoric: "Oh, please. Why don't you start with the president of the United States? And every ugly meme he's posted and every ugly word."
