The Church of the Koimesis in Nicaea, once the main church of the Monastery of Hyacinth, got destroyed in 1922.
It was an important Eastern Roman structure, the patriarch stayed there during the post-1204 Nicaean period, and some imperial family members were buried inside. The domed church had four piers supporting barrel vaults, a triple apse, marble revetment on the walls, and sanctuary mosaics that went through four building phases.
