🔐 The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Implementation Agency for Crime and Security (IMPACS) and Crime Stoppers for the Caribbean, Bermuda and Latin America (CBLA Crime Stoppers Foundation) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen regional cooperation in crime prevention, intelligence coordination and citizen participation across the Caribbean Region.
🤝 The agreement was signed on 12 May 2026 in Paramaribo, Suriname, during the Annual Conference of Caribbean Commissioners of Police (ACCP).
🌎 The partnership establishes a framework for secure information-sharing and anonymous reporting mechanisms aimed at supporting regional security efforts while respecting national sovereignty and legal frameworks.
🚨 The collaboration will support efforts to combat:
• Drug trafficking
• Arms trafficking
• Human trafficking
• Money laundering
• Gang-related violence
• Cyber-enabled crime
• Other forms of transnational organised crime
🛡️ CARICOM IMPACS Executive Director, Lt. Col. Michael Jones, described the partnership as “a significant step forward in our regional security architecture,” noting that stronger regional coordination and citizen participation are essential in addressing evolving security threats.
💬 Crime Stoppers Regional Director/CEO, Mr. Alejo Campos, also underscored the importance of trusted partnerships, secure intelligence-sharing and public cooperation in protecting Caribbean communities.

On April 29 and 30, U.S. Embassy Port of Spain in collaboration with the International Law Enforcement Academy San Salvador, and The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives hosted local and regional law enforcement members for workshops on firearms trafficking and transnational organized crime to make the United States, Trinidad and Tobago, and the Caribbean safer and more secure.
