@KaguyaFalls Mawile is one of my favourites, absolutely carried me in 2014. I was a bit worried that in a meta not dominated by Kangaskhan and with Kingambit they wouldn't get to shine, so this is cool to see
@AndyLaVGC@coletrone Love this. I had the similar strategy in 2010 and got top cut at Nats with it (Azelf rather than Glalie, always the outsiders though!)
@hark_yore I remember starting Tales of Xillia years ago back at my parents. My sister was in the room watching and after a while said I've no idea what is going on.
I was confused then realised, they've given no explanation for tropes or terms like Mana.
@no1gladionfan It made sense to me after ORAS confirming parallel worlds. This and the ultra wormholes felt like an expansion on that.
It also blows any attempt at a timeline to pieces.
It's fine up until 5th gen and then everything, everywhere, all at once.
Yes, WiFi can be improved in most venues (not all).
Are small locals going to be big enough for that to be worth it? Probably not.
We've had 20 years of good local wireless connection in games. We could even go back to cables (usb C!). But VGC needs a better solution.
Anyone else worried about Champions being online only?
Tried a few local friendly tournaments with 4-8 players at a comic shop (WiFi was decent but not amazing, probably how most shops will be). Constant disconnections.
This could literally destroy VGC at a local level.
There's quite a few TCG players at our local league who are enjoying Champions and keen to try playing VGC. Amazing!
But if their first few events are marred by the game just not working, are they likely to stay?
@PokeDuelsTikTok I always forget not everyone knows about the exhibition supplies shop - they have almost everything you might need, and are by far the cheapest place in the venue for soft drinks and snacks (Tesco is cheaper overall if you've got 15 minutes to get there and back though)
@ivy_cudgel_hehe This is my favourite VGC meme; I think I'm missing most of the context, but it still makes me laugh every time - it's applicable to every S/V tournament 😂

@Arkaaali I took Tera Fairy Ash hat Pikachu to Birmingham - it has a 100% win rate against Raging Bolt!
Only Raging Bolt mind, anything else sneezes near it and Pikachu faints.
I didn't take it seriously and it was a lot of fun
@Chaldavgc I lost a game at Birmingham because I read Swords Dance on the Wellspring moves,
wrote then underlined it in my notes,
then played the whole game with my Urshifu as if they had follow me.
@MidTierHero@Nofoume Nothing happens in a vacuum. Events like Worlds and NAIC are extremely expensive to run, Pokémon will be putting a lot of money into these and generating tax for the USA - some of which will go to the government and pay for what they are doing.
@DamoVGC Oh my word. I've not thought about Shoddy in years - kids playing Showdown have no idea how good they haave it.
I don't know how to feel about this dose of nostalgia.
Psst, in the other social places we're all quietly enjoying ZA without the haters, my feed is just people sharing cute pictures of having tea with Pokémon and it's great! You should too! Choose happiness for yourself!
