Wisconsin, Iowa, and Illinois are in for some big time storms today.

Storms already firing predawn over Iowa, then the real show comes late afternoon along the cold front: supercells with hail over two inches, a few strong EF2+ tornadoes, and gusts topping 75 mph. SPC has a Level 3 of 5 up.

The tricky part is those morning storms seeding where things redevelop near the Iowa/Illinois line, so it may go multiple rounds into tonight.

One year ago today, a historic EF-3 tornado with peak winds of 152 mph struck St. Louis, causing over $1.6 billion in damage and 4 fatalities, the city's first deadly tornado since 1959.

Following a year long review, NWS St. Louis officially increased the tornado's width to 3,168 yards (1.8 miles), making it the widest in the region since 1950. Including straight line winds, the total damage swath exceeds 2 miles.

This parking lot security footage shows a person riding out the tornado inside their car. He definitely had front row seats to the tornado but thankfully, he was okay.
