Spider-Man: Brand New Day is one of the best movies in the current Spider-Man series, right behind Homecoming. It gave me TASM 2 vibes but with much better execution.
The climax more than makes up for the slow parts. That entire final stretch was maaad. It was emotional, funny and packed with goosebump moments. Punisher and Spidey duo was peak. And the OG Hulk is baaack.
Tom Holland is the best Spider-Man. The story was actually pretty inspiring. The VFX looked fantastic. The cinematography was gorgeous. The action choreography was incredible and the swinging felt so real.

During my screening of Spider-Man: Brand New Day at AAA EPIQ Luxon, there was persistent flickering throughout the movie where the image kept becoming brighter and darker. The 3D also had noticeable ghosting with halo-like double images around objects. In some scenes, this made parts of the image that should have appeared behind the screen seem to float slightly in front of it.
At one point, parts of the screen also went black. It wasn’t the entire screen, but multiple rectangular sections went black simultaneously while the rest of the image continued playing normally. This happened only once.
I spoke with the management regarding the 3D issue after my show ended. They said they tested the 3D glasses using professional equipment and the glasses are working properly. They said the problem is with the DCP they received. They also mentioned that Mythri Vimal is experiencing the same issue . Also, they told me they’ve already raised the issue with Sony. They expect the issue to be resolved by tonight and the movie to play properly in 3D starting tomorrow.
Hopefully this gets resolved soon so future audiences can enjoy the movie without these issues.

The Odyssey Review
What a spectacle! What a scale! What an emotion!
Every scene looked real. Every scene looked gorgeous.
Matt Damon’s one-man show and I think this will be one of his most memorable performances. Anne Hathaway dominated in her scenes and her acting was fabulous. Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson and Himesh Patel were solid in their roles. Tom Holland looked a bit out of place.
The story was presented pretty much straight forward way and doesn’t have the Nolan spin. I also liked the message the story tries to tell. Dialogues were great. Monster scenes had my heart pumping.
And the music elevated the experience even more.
There couldn’t have been a better climax. The emotion, the high everything was there.
There were small stretches during the middle part where it was boring but it’s a 3hr film so that’s acceptable.
I havent’t read The Odyssey so I can’t discuss the faithfulness to the books. Watched Troy movie before this. Compared to Troy, Agamemnon was presented in a good light and did aura farming in most of his scenes.
I also, recommend familiarizing yourself with the Troy story and characters.
Watched this epic at PCX Screen, Prasad’s Multiplex. The screen size made me feel like I was in a 70mm IMAX theatre which it was previously. Highly recommend this screen.
8/10

Evil Dead Burn is not what I expected. Here’s why.
Before I start, my expectations were based on Evil Dead (2013) and Evil Dead Rise. I haven’t watched the original films or the TV series.
The movie begins where Evil Dead Rise ends. It has a strong opening sequence, although it’s not nearly as brutal or gory as Evil Dead Rise.
The cinematography is excellent. Some shots look incredibly premium and there are several scenes with little to no violence that still manage to create a lot of tension.
The story is different instead of only your basic demonic possession escaping template.
The film makes heavy use of match cuts. They work really well in several moments but they also start to feel repetitive after a while.
There were a few scenes where I imagined what might happen next and if the movie had gone in that direction, it could have been absolutely insane. Instead, it chose a different path.
This film uses dark humor much more often than Evil Dead (2013) or Evil Dead Rise. From what I’ve heard, that’s more in line with the original films. Personally, some of the jokes took me out of the experience. They weren’t bad and I can see why some people would enjoy them since they give the audience a chance to breathe between the horror.
The gore has been toned down significantly. It’s still present but it never feels as disturbing or intense as it did in the previous two films.
The climax was the weakest part for me. The final villain simply wasn’t that scary.
The demon possession scenes also didn’t have the same level of terrifying body horror or bone-twisting as they did in the previous movies.
Emotionally, the film didn’t connect with me either. Since the protagonist doesn’t seem to care much about their own family, it’s hard to feel invested in their struggle. Instead of feeling like the protagonist and the family are fighting together against the evil, it ends up feeling more like the protagonist vs. their own family.
One thing I realized is that while Evil Dead Rise sometimes left me exhausted because of its relentless violence, this movie goes too far in the opposite direction by dialing the violence back too much. I would the 3 movies in this order Evil Dead 2013> Evild Dead Rise > Evil Dead Burn
You might still enjoy this movie, it’s not a bad film. But because it didn’t match my expectations, I’d give it 5.5/10.
Also, make sure to stay through the credits. There’s both a mid-credit scene and an end-credit scene.
