Ah, also saw Nosferatu. D-disappointed? Loved The Witch, liked The Lighthouse... Fealty to the original plot structure of Nos made for a stylish movie that felt thematically...confused. My review is read DRCL.
They're scripted from the schools of both Roland/Emmerich and Bay too, which means not only are characters cliches (one thing), but basically everyone is some kind of goofy cartoon (another). There are plenty of Hollywood action movies not written that way. Grating.
Godzilla x Kong: New Empire: Into 2025 but retroactively the worst thing I watched in 2024. Reminder that I love Godzilla, even the campy ones. But these are just the most dull, weightless action string of Hollywood cliches without even the fun of weight or scale.
X is a nightmare to use now; hit me up on Bluesky:

@SpideyThursday I kind of like it. Have 1 CC'd and multi-looped it. It's a mess though; maybe the worst game I still enjoy. That or the similarly hypnotically dull Sonic 3D Blast, which I've also shamefully completed.
Extremely embarrassing in the year of our lord 2024, but I'm playing and genuinely enjoying Sonic Forces this week, after downloading it on a whim (gf was playing an old Sonic game and I was like, what if we spent 3,000 yen and made a character called Blood the Eagle as a joke).
@callmejoe9@CSA0905 The really tight time requirements on some of the Classic levels (having to route and react) and modern (needing to choose where to build and save Boost for shortcuts) have been the most fun. But some Moon Ring nabs have had pretty demanding movement too. It's not bad!
@callmejoe9@CSA0905 I mean, I like challenge. That's why I'm doing every optional rank/time trial mission/collectable challenge as I go through Forces. Which incidentally takes something you can snooze through and brings out the mechanics enough to be fun.
@callmejoe9@CSA0905 I didn't even realize it was getting a remaster/new version until...this week. But I might after finishing Forces! Same gameplay formula and I'm having fun.
Playing video-games in your thirties:
・Skipping releases you thought you'd be excited for on release date because you're busy
・Making time for bad games from almost a decade ago; retro compilations
・Not finishing anything longer than twenty hours
Embracing true chaos.
I have still not played Mario Wonder, by the way. You get weird about video games when you're in your thirties.
*Spinball is also good. That and CD both get five nasty blue hedgehogs out of five.
@NateMing The day will come when I'll be like, "I could go for another Mario game," and on that day I'll get it. Just hasn't come around yet.
At some point I actually need to finish NSMBU Challenge mode too.
Oh, also some real wink-wink lore for why Cheelai only got one wish in Broly. Don't ask about the Pilaf Freeza wishes. Maybe they count as repeat customers.
Daima Episode 2: Mr. Popo has horns! Otherwise, feeling more apparent this is Kintoki/Jaco/Sandland with Dragon Ball characters, which is...yeah, I mean, yeah, that's fine!
