Paul McCartney and Wings song “Band On The Run” went to No. 1 on the US singles charts, June 8, 1974.
Band on the Run is an absolute masterpiece of a song. It is even more impressive when you consider how chaotic the recording sessions in Lagos, Nigeria, actually were. Two band members quit right before the trip, and Paul even got robbed at knifepoint. Despite all the trouble, the song became a massive hit and stands as one of the best moments of McCartney's post-Beatles career.
