@7thKingtaurus@sumitroy2 I didn’t say he needed a job to have a purpose. A guy can arguably play a lot of video games and still have a purpose. But this guy had clearly lost it. The person closest to him eventually noticed and said something. Who are we to disagree with her?
@MjTheHunter Everyone will say just believe and keep going, but that’s because of the way you framed the question. If you say you have a gut-feeling that something is off then you’d get the opposite answer.
My advice is to take an objective look at your game and adjust course if needed.
@om_patel5 This is why people hate real game developers using AI - because they see a terrible game like this and associate it with AI use. I also have Opus 4.8, but I’ll spend years carefully crafting a pirate game because I want it to be good.
I've been silent about my game, Pirate Code 2, for a long time because I've been reworking the graphics. It took 14 months, and there's a lot of practical reasons I did this, but I'm curious what everyone thinks. Give me your honest opinion.
@BeanJuiceStudio I work on the game when I should be sleeping. I have an AI agent now to juggle all my priorities and give me fake deadlines. It helps.
@geoffkeighley Destiny trailers were always full of heroes blasting the enemies of humanity with awesome weapons and space magic. Marathon trailers show ugly characters dying quickly in pathetic ways. Is that really the pitch?
@Blukulele@StrayFawnStudio I think the key is that this is your third game. Most developers stop after the first game. It takes hard-fought experience to know what will work and what won’t. Well done!
@ArturSmiarowski@DUSKdev Yes, I’ve never really understood how a multi person company with millions of dollars from a publisher, is in the same category as a single dev with a day job.
There’s a lot of people saying that they will never use AI for their game. In five years that will sound like someone claiming they only program in assembly language on a DOS operating system. Why not make your graphics by directly writing the png file in a text editor? Just go all the way and chisel your graphics in stone! Sure they won’t animate, but 3,000 years from now people will look at your art and think about how good of a person you were.
Torque2D 4.0 Early Access 3 is live 🏴☠️
Two years of dev-branch work now on master:
• Full GUI Editor rebuild
• New rendering features (complex color, screen fades)
• Initial CMake pass
• 79 commits of engine fixes and improvements
If you've only been on master, this is a big step up. More coming this summer.
