What Semenyo is to Manchester City under Maresca is what Tzolis is to Arsenal under Mikel Arteta.

If you watch this current City side, you’ll notice that Semenyo’s role has changed. At Bournemouth, we know he loves cutting inside and going for goal, but under Maresca, he seems more focused on creating first. He cuts inside, attracts defenders and looks for the cross or final pass.

Tzolis is being tasked with something very similar at Arsenal. He’s being encouraged to think assist first rather than always looking for the shot himself.

It honestly feels like Maresca and Arteta have a very similar idea in mind when it comes to using these types of wide players.

Get them inside, get them involved, and make them creators as much as goalscorers.
