We protect what we call the "Right to a Childhood" for children in urban poverty, by supporting their right to learn and play in safety. #ProtectChildhood
We are opening 2023 by reflecting on how far we’ve come. We are proud of our milestones in protecting the #righttochildhood. This year, we resolve to reach even more children, bringing them learning, safety and joy.

We successfully convened a high-level roundtable bringing together the SDG Secretariat, Ministry of Education, & partners like JICA to bridge the gap between policy & the classroom.
Led by our Founder & CEO Madeeha Ansari, we’ve moved the needle from "why" children drop out to "how" we keep them safe and thriving through creative, child-centred strategies
We’re launching Phase II of Manzil, our digital Social-Emotional Learning platform, in partnership with the Federal Directorate of Education. This 7-week course supports girls in 20 schools to map goals, reflect, and design their futures.
Can understanding be built without sharing a language? In a recent UK session, a 4-year-old led her own play through actions and repetition. By following her lead, we saw confidence and agency grow. Sometimes, the most important thing a child builds is belief in herself.
In Karachi, our Bulbulon ka Science session turned curiosity into joy. With @itacecorg at Sanjha Vehra, children explored bubbles by making, chasing, and questioning them. It wasn’t about right answers, but about confidence, curiosity, and shared discovery through play.
Growth is a two-way street. In a recent coaching reflection, Bari Saathi Abrish shared how she has grown as a leader by creating spaces where even the quietest children feel confident to engage. Her journey shows how mentorship builds confidence in everyone involved.

Last week in Karachi, we launched a new phase of Seekho Sikhao Sakhi with a canvas painting and reflection session for our Bari Saathis. Through art and dialogue, senior mentors explored identity, communication, and empathy, showing how mentorship helps girls grow into leaders.
Today, we celebrate the hearts that show up for children, our volunteers! Their time, care, and smiles help Cities for Children create safe, playful spaces where every child can grow, learn, and feel loved. Thank you for making this possible.

These moments show how strong these bonds are—peer mentorship is all about trust, connection & joy.
Children tell us what they need if we listen. In our work with @almustafa_trust, girls drew what makes them feel safe, happy, or free, from being with their mothers to dancing in the rain to standing quietly among flowers. Their words remind us why the Right to Childhood matters.
