Those of us who fought for #CarleeRussell and challenged the media and law enforcement to prioritize this case did the RIGHT THING!

There are over 100,000 missing Black women in America. We can never afford not to take the report of one who was potentially abducted seriously.

No one, including the police, could’ve known what we now know.

What she did was wrong for so many reasons. She’ll have a lifetime of consequences to consider her actions. I pray for her and her family, who now have to deal with the fallout.

I reject any notion that this case is an indictment on the Black community and caution nonmelanated people from gloating when the blood of so many Black people, from Emmett Till to the victims of the Rosewood and Tulsa massacres, are on the hands of violent white mobs that unequivocally believed the lies of white women.
