A BROKEN BRIDGE
Yesterday, I received a call from my niece, a Kyiv-trained physician. Her message was straightforward yet startling: “Uncle, please let your children start learning German.” Without a blink, I responded with a resolute, “God forbid!”

Healing Wings over The Nations
I grew up on the streets of Jakarta
I am Steve and this is my story
I was born in Havisham, a small village located on the outskirts of London
My father was an actor who later got recruited to work as a closer for a British company located in the Middle East.
Seems there was a way one must speak in the business world in order to be trusted by foreigners
So even though he never studied banking or law, my father became the representative of professionals who could do the calculations and projections but couldn’t convince foreigners to invest in their businesses
He was quite good at it too, my father
He was good at talking
I saw him once talk to a bird and the bird somehow flew out of the tree and perched on his shoulder.
It was quite a fascinating sight
I grew up in Riyardth, Yemen, Oman, Qatar, Dubai
It was the world I came to know
I was following fast in my father’s footsteps as a marketer
I started selling things when I was still a teenager
We would often travel to London during the Christmas season
I had spoilt rich friends in school who were fascinated by UK Sourvenir’s
So I invested in many and sold them to my friends in school for a killing in the '90s
I made quite a lot of money doing that
I got a job with another company right after my degree and I started working as a closer for the company.
The deal was to find rich investors
Find profitable ventures worth investing in
Bring the investor and the venture together
Get the investor to put in a stack of money
Then get a slice of the investment as a commission
It was not a bad gig
I did it for twenty years and I became a man of modest fortune as a result
I didn’t get married or have children
I didn’t rent an apartment of my own because my company paid my bills
I didn’t own a car because I didn’t need one
What I earn I keep in its fullness
I don’t get taxed
I work out of Saudi Arabia, what tax?
In 2019/2020 business slowed down a bit for many
But for my company, it was a good year
The pharmaceutical companies needed closers to convince the governments to buy their vaccines.
It was designated a high-risk job because of the pandemic so we charged a fortune.
I got rich enough to buy myself a nice mansion down at Reading
I met a lady, Serena on one of my flights out of Riyad and we started talking about marriage
She was thirty-six years old and very elegant
She had a bit of Persian blood in her and I was knocked off my feet the first time I saw her.
I didn’t know she had asked a friend to introduce us
This friend of mine is a pilot and he happened to be the one who was flying us out of Riyad that day
He came into the cabin to welcome me aboard and then he introduced me to Serena who was standing by his side looking like a mermaid riding a dolphin
I loved Serena straight away and we began to date
I was fast approaching my forties and I had never had any real relationship.
That’s not to say I have not had one or two rolls in the hay but it had never been anything worth a second thought.
Serena was worth many thoughts
She was mature, quietly assertive, independent
She was an investment banker
A closer of sorts but she studied marketing and banking and focused on the big fishes in little ponds to open accounts with her bank and deposit huge funds for business
We had a lot in common and soon it felt as if we had known each other a long time.
In January 2021, we got married
Serena wanted to live in London
I had set up a consultancy company of my own and wanted to retire to London.
This was why I bought the house.
It was a historical mansion that had been the home of some popular folks in Reading and England as a whole.
I forgot to add that I was an atheist, just like my father
My father believed self is the best religion and prayer is how well you can communicate your vision and get others to buy into it
Serena worshipped one whatever like that which I had never heard of
Serena sings and chants to it for purification under the full moon and all whatnot
I allowed her to do her thing as she had always allowed me to do mine
Serena was not a get-into-your-business kind of woman
She was a proper independent lady
Not the sort of lady who won’t let their husbands rest sods go about with these days.
She is big on common sense and so was I
The only thing out of place which she was doing was that voodoo thing
I left her to be because she had been doing it before she met me and she had been fine
Plus she wasn’t trying to make me howl at the moon with her
January this year I went off to Riyad on business
It was a two-week trip
Serena said she would prefer to stay in England because there was something she saw in the stars and a special moon was going to rise.
When I got back home, I met Serena unwell
She had been taken to a hospital by the emergency workers
The neighbours noticed she was walking around the street and lost in a sort of trance
She was transferred to a neurological hospital two months later after several tests had been done and it was established that it was a mental breakdown of sorts
Serena had been sick since then
We had tried so many treatments both in the United Kingdom and also from India but her condition only worsened.
The doctors just kept her sedated and functional while claiming she was suffering from psychosis and needed to be doped up
Anyway, a friend of mine told me about the prophetic service being held by an online ministry on Zoom.
He said he was told about it by an American friend who is married to a Nigerian.
It was a try-your-luck thing
I went to the hospital and asked them to discharge my wife to my care
I got two nurses to care for her at home
I joined the prophetic service at 4 AM
Just plugged in and laid down beside my wife expecting the best
The service lasted for two hours, then the phone went quiet by itself
I took the phone and left the room
I had a meeting with a friend at Crawley
Serena was fast asleep
As I was leaving for the meeting, the carer who was supposed to arrive in the morning called to say she was having car issues and wouldn’t be able to make it down on time.
I decided to push the meeting until the substitute carer arrives
The lady was forty fives minutes behind schedule
I sat in the sitting room reading the Daily Sun
I dozed off
When I woke up Serena was sitting beside me
She had showered, changed her clothes and had even made tea
I didn’t know what to say
I just stared at her while she talked
She asked a lot of questions
Like what date the day was and what day it was exactly
She said she was lost inside a place but suddenly she saw a bright light that looked like a womb and she climbed inside it and instantly woke up on her bed feeling fine
She asked me if I had met the Lord Jesus Christ
I told her about the online fellowship and how I had tuned to the prophetic service out of desperation.
I called the friend who sent me the number
The friend called his wife
The wife called Brother Gbenga and told him about us
We called Brother Gbenga later in the evening and he prayed with us
He led my wife and I to Christ and got us filled with the Holy Spirit
My wife wept for hours with joy and relief
The next day she burnt all her spiritual materials, candles, books on spells and chants, wands, scents and seance notes etc
She had a room full of all sorts that she deemed unworthy of her attention anymore.
She asked me to buy her a Bible and I did
I bought one for myself too
I never fully dive into things the way my wife does
It seemed to me she was substituting her passion for spirituality for this newfound passion for Christ
I wanted to caution her not to go in too deep so she wouldn’t end up in trouble again but that would only lead to a fight
So I let her be
It’s been two years
In those two years, Serena had become a mother and the host of a charity gala in my community.
She has thrived far beyond my wildest dreams
I have been inspired by her progress too
I have read the scripture several times with her and without her
I am also taking the issues of faith quite serious
The difference I have seen in the last two years of being a Christian is more than enough evidence to convince anyone that being a Christian is being full of the life of God
Serena has started a house fellowship with members of our local church
She also reaches out to many who are still searching for God in the wrong path by sharing her story with them and filling them with the Holy Spirit
She is the most motivated evangelist I have ever known
We are happy and fulfilled
Glory be to God
Lots of Love,
Steve and Serena Holloway
Havisham, London
PS: This testimony came in on Twitter
I just had to share
I stand in awe of the wonders of the Work of God
I glorify the Lord for all the wonderful things he is doing in our midst
Right in the midst of His church
Blessed be His Holy name
Hallelujah
