Founded in 1984, City Hearts provides high quality, holistic Arts Education to PK-12th grade students in Arts under-resourced areas of Los Angeles. ๐

We join the ranks of 1,474 other recipients totaling $36,790,500 to support the Arts in communities in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and Washington, DC.

Inspired by the life-size photographic sculptures of renowned South African artist Lebohang Kganye (b. 1990), our Compton Photography students created their own photographic dioramas!

After analyzing one of Alberto Giacometti's famous works, Walking Man I, these 1st graders were given bendable craft wire and guided through the creation of their own figures!

Last week, our Visual Arts Teaching Artist, Quinlan Lewis-Mussa, guided a group of our wonderful 4th grade Special Education students from Long Beach through MOCA Museum! A special thanks to California Arts Council for providing funding to make these Arts experiences possible!
Our 2D Design/Printmaking Students are now applying what they learned in Fall to the art of Printmaking. They are now creating designs to carve into rubber linoleum stamps for making small prints.
Soon they'll carve larger blocks & dive into textile design & fabric printing!
Our 1st graders in Compton Unified School District were recently introduced to Claude Monet, and then created watercolor resist drawings that were inspired by Monet's "Water Lilies"! Such beautiful work done by these young Artists! ๐ซถ๐ฝ๐
