🚧 Pardon our noise! Starting June 16, crews working on the historic Cache la Poudre Street/Mesa Road bridge in Monument Valley Park will begin removing the bridge’s 90-year-old concrete deck. This phase of the historic bridge preservation is expected to last several weeks.
At approximately 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, Engine 3 was responding to a medical call when crews reported they had been involved in a collision with a bus at the intersection of Tejon Street and Bijou Street in downtown Colorado Springs.
Four Colorado Springs firefighters were aboard Engine 3 and were transported to local hospitals with injuries. Seven people, including the driver, were on the bus, and five bus occupants were transported to local hospitals for evaluation and treatment of injuries.
Additional CSFD units responded to the scene to provide patient care, assist with the extrication of the bus driver, and support our firefighters. In total, 21 CSFD personnel responded.
Engine 3 sustained significant damage and is considered a total loss.
Our firefighters respond to emergencies every day knowing there are risks associated with serving this community. Today, our focus is on our injured firefighters and everyone else affected by this incident. We are grateful for the immediate response of our crews, our public safety partners, and the medical teams caring for those involved.
The Colorado Springs Police Department Major Crash Team is investigating the collision and will provide all crash-related information.

This afternoon at our 3rd annual Flag Day Ceremony in downtown Colorado Springs, I had the honor of presenting the Spirit of Colorado Springs Flag Day Award to retired Colorado Springs Police Officer and U.S. Army veteran Sgt. Olav Chaney.

Beginning today, Wednesday, June 10th, 2026, at 9 AM, the Colorado Springs Public Safety Communications Center will conduct a 24-hour test of a new assistive AI agent on the *NON-EMERGENCY phone line (719-444-7000) until 9 AM on Thursday, June 11, 2026. This AI agent (SARAH) is designed to support call handling and service efficiency on our non-emergency line, to improve the speed at which 911 calls are answered by our emergency call takers. Throughout the testing period, all activity on the non-emergency line will be closely monitored by trained communications department personnel. This test will *NOT* impact 911 services, which will continue to operate as normal.

🚧 Starting June 10, a drainage improvement project begins at the intersection of Wooten and Galley Roads. Wooten Road north of Galley will be CLOSED in the immediate area of the intersection for several months.

@ATF_Denver Offers $5,000 Reward in Theft of 138 Firearms
@ATF_Denver in conjunction with the Colorado Springs Police Department and the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the trade association for the firearms industry are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information or evidence related to those involved in the theft of 138 firearms, valued at over $100,000, from a storage trailer belonging to a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) who was traveling to attend a gun show.
The theft from the FFL storage trailer occurred on the morning of March 27 while parked at Hampton Inn by Hilton Colorado Springs-Airport located at 2077 Aerotech Dr., Colorado Springs, Colorado. One suspect has been arrested by the Colorado Springs Police Department, a U-Haul van used in the crime has since been recovered and the stolen firearms are largely unrecovered at this time. The ongoing investigation is being conducted jointly by the Colorado Springs Police Department and the ATF Denver Field Division, Colorado Springs Field Office.

Our Colorado Springs community joins the family, loved ones, and fellow soldiers of Sergeant Devin A. Seibel in mourning this heartbreaking loss. Sgt. Seibel died during a training exercise on Sunday in Iraq.
Sgt. Seibel answered the call to serve our nation with courage, dedication, and selflessness. We are deeply grateful for his service and sacrifice.
Abbey and I are keeping Sgt. Seibel’s family, friends, and brothers and sisters in uniform, in our prayers during this difficult time. We also ask our community to keep them in your hearts and prayers in the days ahead.
