@atlurbanist That stretch of sidewalk, especially where it goes under the bridge, has long been one of my most un-favorites in the city. I see that it hasn't improved in the 11 years since I left.
@BreakingBrown Mine is 86, has outlived so many of my aunts and uncles, three of his younger siblings, even one of his kids. Having a hard time thinking of many ADOS people my age that I know whose dads are still around. It's really sad.
@atlurbanist I think I'm scarred by 5 years of using the crosswalk at Ptree Ctr Ave where it meets Peachtree to walk home. Drivers routinely blew right through it like I wasn't even there. Glad to hear that people seem to be more civilized now.
@atlurbanist I did mean to add that the one thing that would make it work is adding a HAWK beacon at the crosswalk to activate a "flashing yellow-solid yellow-solid red-flashing red" light cycle for drivers with a red light camera, rather than just kinda hoping they stop.
@atlurbanist My theory is that a lot of people have such a bias toward seeing only SFHs as "housing" that anything else is mentally devalued to such an extent that they don't care to make any distinction between types. All they know is that it's not what they'd want and they don't like it.
@todosamanaray@atlurbanist "Toxic nostalgia." I'm gonna start using this. I could never quite think of a name for the "everything was better before" attitude that some people have.
@Nerd4Cities You could have "The Office Experience" in a former Forever 21 on G St NW in DC for only $35.50 admission. Alas, "The Friends Experience" has already come and gone. https://t.co/dqZmkh75iF

@BestofLinkedin Haven't we all hung up after talking to someone like Jay and said "I'd rather die than deal with one more recruiter"? This guy really meant it.
If I'm counting right there are 80 units so 2 more empty would put them at 10%. The complex is on the SS/Tk Pk/DC border and not exactly cheap but likely at least 50 years old. I wonder if prices at all those new buildings in Silver Spring dropped and that's where everyone went.
Anyone else's neighbors disappearing? The unit below me, the one next to it, the one behind me, the ones below AND above it are vacant. This all happened in the last month. The lady across from me is moving out next week. That's 6 empty units, just that I know of.
@BestofLinkedin Reminds me of a highly sedentary 50-something lady I worked with who said the dr. told her that her hip pain was due to having "too much muscle in your legs" because she was a dancer in her 20s.
I was in several Red Line stations yesterday and the chillers were working so well that it was almost downright cold in a couple of them. Any other summer with normal commuting going on they'd feel like the reception area for hell.
Many, many things are uncertain right now but absolutely everything I order will always get to this @LaserShip facility about 25 minutes away, sit for days then evaporate.
