Today, we observe the National Day of Mourning, honouring those who have lost their lives or suffered injury and illness at work.
This day serves as a solemn reminder of the importance of prioritizing workplace safety and ensuring that every worker returns home healthy.
This week is Emergency Service Dispatchers and 9-1-1 Awareness Week. Thanks to the team behind the headsets who coordinate fire, police, and ambulance responses to those in need in our community. Your service is an essential part of the work we do each day.

🔋Misuse of lithium-ion batteries has been a growing cause of fires.
🎁As you unwrap new gadgets this season, ensure you only use the original charger and unplug it once fully charged to prevent overheating and catching on fire.
#FirePrevention#FireSmart
Cooking during the holidays can be stressful! But don't let the busyness of the season stop you from staying safe in the kitchen.
Remember to keep a pot lid near the stove to smother flames if a grease fire starts. Never throw water on a grease fire—this will spread the flames.
🍳While cooking for your loved ones this holiday season, remember to stay safe and prevent house fires by remaining in the kitchen whenever the stove is on. Turn off the burner if you leave the room.
#FireSmart#FirePrevention
✨This holiday season, consider using flameless, battery-operated candles. If you use real ones, keep them at least 30cm away from anything that can burn.

We are now recruiting highly motivated and skilled team players who want to pursue a challenging and rewarding career as firefighters.

‼️A heat source too close to your Christmas tree can be a serious hazard.
🎄Be #FireSmart this season and make sure your Christmas tree is at least one metre away from any heat source, like fireplaces, radiators, candles, heat vents, or lights.
🎄Are you #FireSmart for the holiday season?
Almost 1/3 of home Christmas tree fires are caused by electrical problems. Make sure the Christmas tree lights are all turned off before leaving home or going to bed.

🔋 Fire Prevention Week Safety Tip #4:
Don’t toss lithium-ion batteries in the trash or regular recycling bins—they can start a fire. Dispose of old batteries at a designated battery recycling spot.

🔥Fire Prevention Week safety tip #3: Charge devices safely and unplug when fully charged.
Charge any lithium-ion battery device on a hard surface—never on your bed, couch, or under a pillow. Once it’s at 100%, unplug and move on.

🔥 Fire Prevention Week: Safety Tip #2: Always charge outside on a flat, dry spot away from direct sunlight, anything wet, kids, or tripping hazards. And make sure your bike or device is secure—so it doesn’t fall while charging.
