I appreciated the opportunity to meet with @LanceOrton, Executive Director of @Cityteam Portland, who gave me a tour of their transition facility. Together, we discussed the homelessness and addiction crises, as well as possible solutions to address issues that have impacted so many people right here in Oregon.
We also talked about ensuring funding is properly allocated, the importance of giving individuals a hand up—not a handout—and the role of court-mandated recovery.
These are just the beginning. What other ideas do you have to help address these challenges?
Our 2026 Season of Service has provided many heart-warming moments giving back to our communities. In #Bakersfield, #SanJose, and #ThousandOaks, we volunteered with Golden Empire Gleaners FoodBank, @CityTeam San Jose, and Manna Conejo Valley Food Bank to support people in need.
Thanksgiving means family and warmth, but not everyone has that safety net. That’s why today we donated to @Cityteam, a Bay Area nonprofit that provides hot meals, groceries, shelter, clothing and job training to people facing homelessness, hunger, or addiction. We hope this helps bring comfort and hope this holiday season. Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃

✍️ August is Make-A-Will Month! This is Simon's story:
"In 2007, my wife and I were raising three young kids. A friend told me that without a will, if we both passed away, the state would decide who raised them.
That shook me.
We quickly created a will and trust so we could choose, protecting our children’s future and keeping those decisions in our hands."
✅ This is one of many reasons why having a will is essential. Create a free will today at https://t.co/VS19bigCoc
