We're on the road this week, and excited to be at the #CAMA2019 conference in Quebec City! Great program, great people. Huge thanks to our friends and partners from @camalink for all their hard work in pulling it all together. We're amazed at how little sleep they seem to need.
A very well-done story from @j_mcelroy on Metro Vancouver's byelection in Electoral Area A, although we're not sure we agree that it's the "weirdest political structure" in BC. We can think of a few that are equal or weirder.
A byelection is underway for a place in the Lower Mainland with no local government.
Confused?
Who better than @j_mcelroy to walk you through what's happening and what's at stake in Electoral Area A:

Local Government Awareness Week is May 19 - 25, 2019, and CivicInfo BC is proud to partner with the Union of BC Municipalities and the Ministry of Municipal Affairs & Housing on this initiative. See this year's proclamation and more on the @UBCM website. https://t.co/N1mFDOVDTD
14,923,261 = The number of page views on https://t.co/8QElbopCKq in 2018. This is also about the number of M&Ms it would take to create a single line stretching from Vancouver to Hope, assuming the line followed the TransCanada Highway.
We have a second Twitter account, @BCHeadlines, which is a curated British Columbia local government news feed. With over 90,000 headlines and links posted since 2010, it's great way to stay on top of trends and issues. Maintained by people, not bots!
Friday fun: The world's largest garden gnome is moving to a farm near our office! News reports say it's 16" too tall and needs a variance, and that the ALC must approve non-farm use for any permanent facilities. #TheresNoPlaceLikeGnome

CivicInfo BC is looking for a talented person to join our fun and highly-caffeinated team as an Office & Data Entry Clerk. Location: Saanich, BC. Interested, or know someone who might be? See: https://t.co/xcsY9XL6Ex
@The_MIABC Thanks @The_MIABC, and we're very proud to be one of your partners as well! The supports and services you provide for BC local governments are absolutely invaluable.
Myth busting: CivicInfo BC is not a private company. We're a non-profit with a membership of about 190 municipalities and regional districts, and we're one of BC's "local government system" organizations. This booklet explains: https://t.co/PfhO6UTxvd
CivicInfo BC is 20 years old! While we incorporated in 2000, the UBCM-funded needs assessment that led to our creation happened in 1999. Our original mandate: provide a central online information hub for BC local governments. Two decades later, we’re still at it.
Follow us here or at https://t.co/yBMpo8qyxo to discover what we do as a local government data and information agency. We have a lot of things we want to share. Incredibly boring if you are not interested in local government. But incredibly interesting if you are.
