Bonnie Crombie and Mayor Carolyn Parrish got into a very public back-and-forth on Twitter last night over the recent data centre vote, with Crombie accusing Parrish of dodging a tough decision.

Parrish fired back that as chair she was not permitted to vote -- then added that Crombie "abandoned the city, failed to win a local riding and ended up turfed by her party." Crombie closed it out by promoting her mayoral campaign.

Municipal elections will be held on October 26.🍿

A Mississauga resident delivered a blistering deputation at City Hall on Wednesday, challenging council over the proposed Prologis data centre in Lisgar.

She questioned why corporations like Prologis get direct access to the mayor while residents are left out, called out the Mayor for signing a bill she claimed the Mayor "didn't understand", and warned council that residents will remember how they vote come October.

The crowd applauded throughout.

My theory is that the Mayor knew he didn’t have 2/3 to reconsider the motion to appoint her and rescind the appointment and went this code of conduct route. YES these are political appointments but Ajax have some finesse - or wait a couple months until her term ended.

ALSO the councillor on the library board did not vote for this. I am glad she's back on the board. It is VERY difficult to un appoint a member - and if you are going to be doing this - it's gonna be done right. These appointments have weight.

Mississauga Marathon Council 7 hour meeting today focused on Data Centres. We have 12 centres now that process health & research information and phone data we all use every day. Have asked staff to do a factual analysis of the centres and design a bylaw that regulates new ones.
