One thing we all have to be clear regarding the fight for physical media is that what we want is the customer to be able to retain the purchased product forever. This isn't just us being nostalgic for physical media, it's about customer protection rights.

As someone that still collects physical video games, this is the final nail in the coffin for me to never get a PlayStation 6. The PlayStation 5 is the last modern console I'll ever get, Sony can F*** off with wanting to monopolize digital media by killing off physical media.

@kiwitalkz Metroid Prime Trilogy all the way, because while Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal are amazing, Doom: The Dark Ages disappointed me with how different the gameplay was that I simply couldn't finish it; where as the Prime Trilogy was always great (yes even Prime 3 is great).
I have been getting pestered for months now about my Metroid Prime 4 Review with the OG Metroid Prime devs, it is happening, I haven't forgotten.
I am just waiting on my buddy Zoid(Senior Engineer On Prime 1 & 2) to finish the game, he's had a lot of things on his plate as of late, but we will get around to it at some point.
It could be a month, it could be 6 months but it will happen, please be patient and stop spamming me, thanks🙏
@manfightdragon@manfightdragon Wait, say I go on a family trip to Europe or USA for an entire month (or simply not turn on the PS5 or log in to PSN).
Does this mean my digital games (aka Astro Bot which was includes in my console) will literally no longer work and I have ro rebuy them?
@Grummz And this is without even going into the fact that not only the game cost millions to make, but on console the game sold even less than on PC, meaning the player numbers there are even lower than what PC got at launch.
The game is indeed a commercial flop, it'll die soon.
@Grummz First Concord, then Concord 2: The Highguard Strikes Back, and now Concord 3: The Fall of Marathon.
Let's be real, Marathon at launch only had 88,337 PC players, lost 60% of those players in 1 month (and still dropping), they'll pull the plug once it reaches 20000 players daily.
@bellbearinghunt The original, no contest. Yes, the remake may be better in a lot of ways (especially for being scarier), but the original was already an excellent game that still holds up to this day.
Some may dislike the og cheesy dialogue, but I adore it, it makes RE4 a masterpiece.
@kiwitalkz@FerrisWheelPro I have actually seen some hardcore Metroid fans online and in IRL not buying Metroid Prime 4 on Day 1 because of all the bad publicity it was getting pre launch, coupled with the mixed reviews.
I did not see any hardcore Metroid fans wait to get Dread, they jumped in fast.
@kiwitalkz I definitely will like to see you ask them about their time developing the Crash Bandicoot and Jak and Daxter games, and I definitely wanna hear why they decided to have both franchises have a racing game right after completing a trilogy (and why Uncharted didn't get one, lol).
@kiwitalkz Have there been any journalists or news reporters on Youtube or other websites that have been great for you to work with (so much so that you'd be fine to even mention a few rumors or leaks as a guest in their outlets)?
@kiwitalkz As someone that usually dislikes rap in general (except for the Donkey Kong 64 rap, that one is amazing and my fave), this one I did like; mostly cause of it using Lower Brinstar, and the lyrics being kinda funny to me (in a good way).
@kiwitalkz Ok, since Retro Studios is now in full production for Metroid Prime related content, does this mean that Metroid Prime 4 will indeed get any sort of post launch updates? Or they'll immediately move on to doing Metroid Prime 5 (or even Metroid Prime 2 Remastered)?
The new translated interview with Tanabe regarding Prime 4 is the final piece of snippets of info that connects the dots for me that I’ve been hearing for 2 or so years that I couldn’t quite wrap my head around.
Retro never got to truly make a Prime 4 from scratch, they had to follow the original template on the Bandai Namco version to a certain extent because Nintendo had already burned too much money 2 years in and Retro was tasked with executing on what was a flawed concept from the start. Primes 1-3 walked a perfect line in my opinion of western and eastern design sensibilities but Prime 4 has a lot of tonal whiplash
and it’s because Retro had to try and salvage some stuff from the original version.
The interview pretty much confirms Prime 5 will be a thing unless Prime 4 bombs (as Retro has built up the production pipeline to become the Metroid studio, thats something I’ve been saying for a while, that DK won’t be a thing going forward as Retro is different now.)
If Prime 1-3 are the LOTR films then Prime 4 is the Hobbit films plagued by meddling and not enough time for Peter Jackson/Retro to do what they truly do.
it’s Boxing Day here in NZ and I know it’s Xmas there in the U.S. so a big merry Xmas to Retro cause I’m even more impressed you were able to put something out that is as good as it is given all the crap you had to contend with behind the scenes, have a great holiday break you well and truly earned it🎄
@kiwitalkz Well, even without interviews from the Prime 4 devs and producers, we can still get an idea for what they were thinking when designing #MetroidPrime4. Thanks to the Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective artbook, we got a good read on what were their priorities for Prime 4.
@nerdporeallife@kiwitalkz@antonenut In terms of how newcomer accessible each Prime game is with its difficulty, level design, gameplay, etc.:
1. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
2. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
3. Metroid Prime 1
4. Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
Yes, Metroid Primes 3 and 4 are indeed the most newcomer friendly.
@nerdporeallife@kiwitalkz@antonenut Metroid Prime 1 and Metroid Zero Mission are definitely very good entry points for newcomers to the franchise.
Metroid Prime 2 I would not tell newcomers to play that first before Prime 1, as it is the hardest of the Prime games, and it will mega test your skills the most.
