It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of 15-year-old Academy player, Amelia Aplin.

Amelia collapsed during a Girls’ Academy game against Fulham at the Club’s Training Centre in Horspath yesterday afternoon.

The thoughts and sincere condolences from everyone at Oxford United are with Amelia’s family, friends, teammates and coaches.

We would like to place on record our appreciation for the efforts of the medical staff at both Oxford United and Fulham Football Club, along with the emergency services.

The Club will offer support to Amelia’s family, players, coaches and staff impacted by this tragic event.

We would ask that the family’s privacy is respected at this incredibly difficult time.

@DopeyDave1984 @RichCawleySLP @HonestMillwall @evanpolak123 I agree, I'm not disputing that, but like I've said to a few others the waiting around for another club or a better contract offer is the most frustrating thing, if you want us say yes if not let us move onto other targets, don't keep us waiting around time moves fast these days

@philclarke0170 @RichCawleySLP @HonestMillwall @evanpolak123 The waiting for a decision is what is annoying me the most, just give the Club a yes or no answer so either we can progress or move onto other targets, I fully agree we used the loan system as intended but the waiting around for another club or a better offer is just frustrating

@HonestMillwall @RichCawleySLP @evanpolak123 I wouldn't call it a bit much, I just don't agree with the fact we helped him out when he needed a club we've slapped a contract on the table and he is stalling waiting for something else, either just tell us no or at least say give me 2 weeks and I'll let you know simple tbh 🤷🏻‍♂️

Providing a pathway for rookies such as Ayrton Senna and Derek Warwick, he leaves behind a lasting legacy in Formula 1.
