@gotrice2024 Don’t think it was an overreaction. Common sense tells you there are some things you wouldn’t eat including the last of something or anything that looked special
@tellmelater225@blaiklockBP Maybe, but you also become eligible for full housing benefit, full council tax benefit, £150 warm home discount from your energy supplier, cold weather benefit, plus anything else that is given to ‘the most vulnerable’ added together this is a lot more than £238 a week
@MatrixMysteries Try living in the UK, we pay £140m per year on translators over all public sectors. Could be wrong, but think we’re the only county to do this on this scale. If you don’t speak the native language of the country you live in, you should provide your own interpreter
@RedCollectiveUK@gmpolice Just come back from Egypt which is a 90% Muslim country & there were dogs everywhere. No one was frightened of them so don’t understand this post
@MyLordBebo Germany have the right idea. I remember when activists went into a car showroom & glued themselves to the floor, the staff just locked up & went home leaving them there overnight. We should do the same
@asifpatel@BellaWallerstei@thetimes What about tax & NI? Working 37 hours a week on minimum wage is £23,492. Once tax & NI taken off the actual take home pay is £20,433 & that’s without any other off-takes such as pension contribution.
Anyone not working & on benefits doesn’t pay tax or NI so it’s gross pay
@GeorgeFoulkes Most learn the language, pay their way, don’t live off the country by claiming benefits & if they need an interpreter, they pay for their own
