PAYBACK Japan FM (Oct 11) - ENG

✨MINLEE: ‘He’s the one I want!✨

Producer Kim, who attended the fan meeting, shared a more detailed behind-the-scenes story about Toptap and Minlee’s auditions than what had previously been revealed.

“Toptap and Minlee were destined to meet each other…”

📽️How Minlee Was Cast as Sun

Producer Kim:

“After PAYBACK was confirmed for production, Minlee was selected very quickly during the auditions because he looked exactly like Yuhan (Sun). The resemblance was uncanny.

However, casting Jay was extremely difficult.

Since Minlee is tall (179 cm), we needed to find someone even taller than him.

Also, because Minlee was new to acting, we thought it would be better to have an older actor play Jay, considering the character’s age.

But we simply couldn’t find anyone suitable.”

📽️How They Found Toptap

Producer Kim:

“As time passed, I contacted the Thai production team again.

Since I was planning another trip to Thailand, I asked them to recommend a temple in Chiang Mai where I could pray for us to find the right actor for Jay.

That’s when a staff member said, ‘There’s one actor I’d like to introduce to you.’

And the person who showed up at the restaurant that day was Toptap.”

At this point, the producer mentioned that Toptap didn’t look like he was 22 years old back then, prompting an indescribable expression from Toptap.

📽️Minlee’s First Impression of Toptap

Producer Kim:

“We still needed to see whether Toptap and Minlee had good chemistry, so we invited Toptap to Bangkok to meet Minlee in person.

After meeting him, Minlee said:

‘He’s the one I want.’ 🙈

And that’s how we finally found our Jay.”

After hearing the story, Minlee became curious about the temple where the producers had prayed and asked them which temple it was.

OP Reaction

“The moment I heard Minlee say, ‘He’s the one I want,’ my brain completely exploded.

What do you mean?! Isn’t this way too much like destiny?!

Toptap and Minlee were truly destined to meet each other.”
