South Korea plans to invest $9.8 billion (R159 billion) in South Africa on an AI project led by South Korean Power Consortium, which aims to make South Africa a major digital hub, enhancing AI research and data infrastructure, though governance and oversight concerns are already surfacing.
South Korea Power Consortium is only waiting for approval from South Africa to commence the construction of the huge planned AI data centre in Amanzimtoti in the KwaZulu-Natal province.
