The four-time IndyCar champion takes pole as race cars tear through some of Washington's most recognizable landmarks.

But Saturday is only the warm-up. Tomorrow, the Freedom 250 Grand Prix makes history with the first IndyCar race in the nation's capital, sending drivers through 147 laps and 250 miles in the shadow of the U.S. Capitol.

Palou enters Sunday's main event with a 133-point championship lead — and could leave Washington with his fifth career title locked up with three races still remaining.

WATCH: A small plane plunges into the ocean just off a crowded Boca Raton beach as stunned witnesses watch from the sand.

Moments later, a lifeguard races into the water and helps the pilot safely back to shore.

Police say the pilot was the only person aboard the single-engine aircraft and no one was injured. The flight was headed from Fort Myers to the Bahamas when it declared an emergency and was cleared to land at Boca Raton Airport before crashing.
