If two police officers had died after a head-on collision with five Brown or Black men who were driving the wrong way down a road while trying to get away from another police car somewhere like Birmingham, and more than 200 extra police officers from forces across the UK were deployed because of gang-related disorder, I promise you Nigel Farage would have come out of hiding and called for "pure cold rage". Robert Jenrick would have been calling it a "no-go zone", Suella Braverman would have been pretending that she had tried to do something about it, and Tommy Robinson would have been inciting another racist riot.
