I booked a train ticket three weeks in advance and paid extra for a quiet car because I had a major certification exam to study for.
Ten minutes after boarding, a family of five sat across from me.
The kids were playing videos at full volume, running up and down the aisle, and one of them was repeatedly kicking my seat.
I politely reminded the parents that we were in the quiet car.
The dad laughed and said, "They're just kids. People need to be more understanding."
I got up and found the conductor.
The family was informed they could either keep the noise down or move to a standard carriage.
The mother looked at me like I'd personally ruined their vacation.
For the next two hours they kept loudly discussing how "some people hate children."
No.
I don't hate children.
I paid extra specifically to avoid turning my study session into a daycare center.
@Clarek56@CrossCountryUK I'm amazed in this age of health and safety that CC are still allowed to operate their routes the way they do. It's never pleasant, and downright dangerous at this time of year.
@kg_se10@CrossCountryUK I completely agree. Even by their usual standards this was insane. People had to stand in the toilet as there was no further room. There was no air whatsoever. It was pointless that when the alarm was raised it just added more problems as the train was just delayed further
Guys, I love Taylor the most, but ridiculous to call Courtney Love a nobody. She’s an icon. And to say she’s just a famous guy’s ex-wife is wrong and misogynistic. Give the Hole album Live Through This a listen. Pitchfork gave it a 10 for a reason. Masterpiece.
It's been an age since I've been on twitter but at the week end I found treasure - a bargain le creuset salt pig. Only one way to celebrate- @Nigella_Lawson salt and vinegar potatoes. THE best. 💙
@Nigella_Lawson watching an episode of Nigellissima, I loved that series! Well I now have parmesan grater envy, do you know where yours was from? Thank you!
