@nageco @JonahedJones @marthadurham512@attackerman They are American jails, not a fucking torture chamber. Stop trying to justify something horrible and illegal.
The Hunter Biden laptop story was almost certainly the product of a Russian disinformation campaign, but no podcaster or conservative will ever entertain a serious conversation about it because they allergic to researching actual conspiracies. :)
Every single motherfucker saying they'd "adopt the baby" to prevent that couple's abortion could step up and adopt a kid right now... there are plenty who need homes. But exactly zero of them will adopt a kid this year. It's all grandstanding to try for a "moral" high ground.
my dad is a millionaire and has never once in his life worked a 16 hour shift like i have, driven 20+ year old shitbox vehicles like i have, or worked a weekend
Look what you’ve done, dorks. You’ve bullied Spotify into reversing something fun and different (and temporary to begin with) for their 20th Anniversary.
We don’t deserve nice things.
I still can’t get over that Alito basically said racism was over and then conservatives agreed by deleting every black district in the south in like 2 seconds
I'm not a legal expert, maybe VA's redistricting case was complicated, but FL's case isn't: Voters passed a referendum that said no partisan redistricting, DeSantis and the Legislature said fuck you we're doing it anyway, & nobody thinks the all-Republican court will stop them.
Remember: Republicans can terminate ongoing elections, pack the state supreme court, and disregard the state constitution to appoint a majority. But Democrats must be stopped by even the smallest of procedural loopholes when they attempt to counter-redistrict.
In 2018, North Carolina held an election using congressional maps that had already been ruled unconstitutional. The winners were seated anyway. In 2022, Ohio did the same thing. Georgia and Alabama moved forward with racist maps in 2022 that violated the Voting Rights Act. The winners of those elections were seated anyway. When it’s Republicans disenfranchising Black voters and Democrats, illegal maps are suddenly good enough to keep in place during the election. None of those states even put their maps up for approval by the public like Virginia did. Virginia should proceed with their election under the map their voters just enacted. Anything less would establish an unfair precedent.
