@AnneSheldon_@benonwine GF was killed *by* the police and the initial response was to refuse to investigate. In this case the killer was convicted and the police response is being investigated for its appropriateness. There is no equivalence between the cases at all.
@RealityRights99@HantsPolice Because they’re being investigated by the IOPC? If they determine there should be consequences, there will be. Not ‘mob justice’ from Twitter warriors who think they have all the facts.
@loz_field@TomK_Brit1993 Again, the purpose of protests when GF was killed was to get justice because people should be held accountable for killing other people. HN’s killer has been found guilty and will be sentenced tomorrow. The conduct of the police is under investigation. He already got justice.
@loz_field@TomK_Brit1993 How many would be enough for you in a case where the killer has been convicted and the IOPC are investigating the Police? The issue in the GF case was the police were the ones who killed him while he was in their custody and initially refused to hold them to account.
@RickTusgrin72@TomK_Brit1993 Do you know when the investigation started? The police force has a mandatory requirement to refer itself to the IOPC in an event like this and they only confirmed this week that an investigation is underway, not that it’s just started. The fact is though - they are investigating
@RickTusgrin72@TomK_Brit1993 Both the police force and the government commented immediately after the verdict (3 days ago) which is the earliest they’re allowed to comment without prejudicing the case. The IOPC also confirmed at the same time they’re already investigating the police conduct.
@RickTusgrin72@TomK_Brit1993 You don’t need to ask the govt to do it - they already did it. Why are so many right wing agitators making out that they haven’t? It’s all because a brown man killed a white man. Even if you want to pretend it isn’t, there’s many more on X who are a lot more ‘mask off’ about it.
@BasilTheGreat This was announced days ago at the time the verdict was announced. The fact that you think this is “news” an hour ago makes me think you aren’t that informed of the facts of this case…
@RickTusgrin72@TomK_Brit1993 Killer has been convicted, police conduct is being independently reviewed and gov acknowledged the case, all on the day of the verdict. The only unusual element of this case is the stream of rightwing grifters trying to make out this case has been handled differently due to race.
@SBarrettBar The most sinister thing going on is grifters like you trying to profit off this tragic crime. It’s not been forgotten- the murderer has been convicted, sentencing is tomorrow. The IOPC is investigating the police conduct. What exactly is your problem with this case?
@JulesDProperty@catmomo1498286@savoy_girl … and that’s not immediately obvious. The mainly reported timeline seems to suggest within 3 minutes of arriving they’d realised his condition and were performing first aid. I’d like to think if I were in that situation, I’d do better, but no one can really know that.
@JulesDProperty@catmomo1498286@savoy_girl I’m not saying the police weren’t negligent in this case - the reports I’ve seen raise questions about their conduct (which will be investigated). The point I’m making is that when police are called to scene, they have to assess it based on what they find and what they’re told…
