Thankful for the opportunity to visit Western Michigan University this past Saturday. I truly appreciate the experience and the opportunity to learn more about the program. @pawlakjoe@ctoudle1@WMU_Football@HuskieFB
🏈 HUSKIES WIN THE CROSSTOWN CLASSIC — 21-14.
But the scoreboard was only part of last night.
On the 25th anniversary of September 11, Naperville North and Naperville Central stood together for a Salute to Service that this community won't forget. The Judd Kendall VFW Post 3873 Color Guard presented the colors. Our combined Veterans Clubs unfurled the garrison flag at midfield. Eight voices from two schools sang the anthem — and on its final note, the Lima Lima Flight Team, presented by Naperville Responds, thundered over Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium. Mayor Scott Wehrli flipped the coin. And a stadium full of rivals went silent together to remember the lives lost — and two of our own, Cpl. Tony Mihalo and SSG Andrew Pokorny.
To the Naperville Police Department, the Naperville Fire Department, and every veteran, service member, and first responder in the stands: thank you. Your service is why nights like this exist.
To our honorees, the VFW, American Legion, AMVETS, the Veterans Clubs, the Class of 1996, Belgio's, North Central College, and every event worker, junior high supervisor, and volunteer who made a sold-out stadium run like clockwork — thank you.
To the Marching Huskies, Huskie Cheer, Huskie Dance, and the loudest student section in Illinois — you were the soundtrack.
And to @huskiefb — Driven to COMPETE. Wes Spencer would be proud.
Naperville Central, thank you for the rivalry. See you next year.
