In Tanzania, #cardiacrehab remains underutilized - often misunderstood and absent from routine care. Stable patients are discharged with medication but without a structured recovery plan, too often returning with preventable complications.

Congratulations to Justin Waid, manager at Tobyhanna State Park! He was honored with a Governor's Award for Excellence for helping save a life at the park on July 7, 2024.

That evening, a swimmer went underwater at the park's lake and failed to come back up. A DCNR Ranger quickly responded, pulling the victim from the water. Although off-duty, Waid also arrived on the scene and joined the ranger and an EMT in providing critical emergency care. They did CPR, used an AED, and made sure the person could breathe until the ambulance arrived. Thanks to their calm teamwork, the swimmer made a full recovery.
