Proud dad of @_cashed_out_ @CorneliusNation and @CarnegieJohnson; @ABRAMSbooks author, @PUMA partner, historian, and @BlackFives founder. Views my own.
For the 5th consecutive season, the BIG EAST Conference will partner with the @BlackFives, a nonprofit public charity dedicated to inspiring excellence in youth by preserving, teaching, and honoring the pre-NBA history of African Americans in basketball.

Should descendants of vintage African American sports pioneers have the chance to own a financial stake in the logos their ancestors helped make possible?
No sports league or sports property in the world has ever offered this – until now.

One of our artifacts is on display in the @metmuseum’s new "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style" exhibition. It's a 1915 placard promoting a basketball game between two African American teams. Go behind the scenes with Black Fives founder @ClaudeJohnson!

Honoring the past to pave the way for the future
Coach @DeniseDillon met with @ClaudeJohnson, the founder and executive director of the @BlackFives Foundation, to chat about the group’s work and some of the plans they have for the future.
As this year's @BIGEAST x @BlackFives#BHM games tip off, we're reminded of this #HBCU tip-off in a 1925 game that @Morehouse and @WilberforceU played in #Atlanta, from our "Black Fives Era In Perspective" article. Read up on the historical background!

I remember Coach Carnesecca in 2009 visiting the wake for John Isaacs, star player for the world championship winning New York Rens (1939) and Washington Bears (1943), to pay respects. Didn’t have to do it, but that’s who he was. Game recognize game. 🙌🏽 Rest in Peace, gentlemen.
We recently acquired this rare original photograph of @LIUBasketball's epic 1939-40 team, autographed by the players including African American basketball pioneer William "Dolly" King as well as by head coach Clair Bee. @hoopshallny@NITMBB@longislandu
